Kindred Built Its Home Swap Collection for World Cup Host Cities

Kindred has launched a Host City Collection of 150-plus homes across FIFA World Cup host cities, offering members a credit-based home-swapping alternative to hotels as accommodation prices surge across North America. The Kindred World Cup home-swap platform requires no money exchange between members; stays are booked using credits earned by hosting, with only small service and cleaning fees charged.

Hotel prices across host cities are already climbing significantly, with weekly stays in Miami ranging from $2,000 to $3,500 and reaching $5,000-plus in Los Angeles. Kindred estimates a week-long stay through its platform costs around $600 regardless of the host city.

Kindred shows how community-driven home swapping can offer a practical alternative when hotels and short-term rentals price out everyday fans.

Community-based Home Swapping
Localized networks of reciprocal home exchanges are enabling fans to bypass traditional lodging channels during major events by leveraging trust and social proof within host communities.
Credit-based Travel Economies
A points-and-credits model for accommodation is creating alternative value systems that decouple stays from cash transactions and stabilize costs across high-demand markets.
Event-driven Accommodation Networks
Temporary, city-specific housing collections tied to major events are concentrating supply and demand into curated portfolios that compete with hotels and short-term rentals on price and convenience.

Sectors Adopting This
