Microsoft has unveiled its newest update for Windows, which includes Windows 11 HDR, VRR, and 'Windowed Mode' features. Windows 11 had an 'Auto HDR' feature by default, which allowed the operating system to detect an HDR-compatible monitor and calibrate it automatically. However, with the incredible variance in HDR types across different monitor models, this feature was largely inaccurate.
To address this, Microsoft is bringing its 'Xbox Series X/S' HDR calibration feature to Windows 11, which means users will be shown a variety of images with a slider under them, with each image being geared towards calibrating a different HDR setting, such as black level or contrast.
In addition to this HDR feature, Microsoft is bringing its 'Variable Refresh Rate' (VRR) support to games running in Windowed Mode. This feature is meant to make Windowed games run with less input delay and with a more clear picture.
