The Westbahnhof Train Station by Shahira Hammad is a stunning and complex tree branch installation that completely covers the original Vienna train station. This installation has been designed as part of Hammad's postgraduate thesis project for the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
Students were asked to recreate the current station, and the options were endless for transforming a simple building with innovative designs. Hammad has kept the original building, but has let nature take over, leaving the old station completely unrecognizable.
This design contaminates the original building with complex metal pieces. In 2008, Hammad was awarded for her marine research complex project, and her work is receiving international press.
