WaterDream by Nendo Introduces the World to the Shower Lamp
Michael Hines — July 3, 2013 — Art & Design
WaterDream by Nendo is a series of lights that also work as showers. The Japanese design studio created these unique lighting fixtures as part of Axor's WaterDream project. Axor is a German bathroom brand. WaterDream features works from many other design studios, but none are more intriguing than the shower-lamp.
The shower-lamp is exactly what its name suggests. It provides light, but its "shade" produces water instead of, well, actual shade. According to Oki Sato of Nendo, the objective behind creating the shower-lamp was "to give the shower an enhanced sensuous dimension in a way we have not yet seen before." While WaterDream by Nendo appears to be nothing more than an art installation, here's hoping that companies use it as an inspiration and begin incorporating light into shower heads and sinks.
