Verb Biotics Highlights Its Peer-Reviewed Studies

B2B biotechnology company Verb Biotics has published two peer-reviewed studies in the journal Beneficial Microbes that validate the efficacy and mechanism of action for its Keystone Postbiotic, an oat-derived ingredient designed for targeted microbiome support.

Verb Biotics' first study is a four-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 76 healthy adults. It demonstrated that daily supplementation with Keystone selectively enriched 33 beneficial keystone bacterial species, including notable increases in Akkermansia by up to 243-fold and Bifidobacterium by 9.6-fold. The ingredient also reduced 38 taxa associated with gastrointestinal distress. Beyond these microbial shifts, the trial also recorded that 68% of participants reported improvements in emotional well-being, with additional benefits including a healthier morning cortisol profile, a significant reduction in the inflammatory chemokine IL-8, and a favorable shift in the albumin to globulin ratio.

The companion mechanistic study details how two specific probiotic strains ferment oats to produce bioactive metabolites at a low daily dose of just 300 milligrams.
