Valve 3D models have been released in an effort to aid users attempting to alter or build other functions for the Index virtual reality handset. The company released both a high and low-resolution model, as well as supporting documents. The information was posted to GitHub using a Creative Commons License. The Valve 3D models are available to anyone wishing to download them. However, users cannot sell any mods created using the information, unless they obtain the consent of Valve.
The Index headsets were recently released, the models are a high-quality VR device, which was created form the company's SteamVR platform. The Index was created with open source initiatives in mind. This is evident from the devices design, which includes a USB port, as well as sensors for users to add hardware.
