Infarm partnered with East Japan Railway to launch an urban-farmed produce initiative within Tokyo train stations that offers ultra-fresh herbs and vegetables to busy city-goers. Infarm's urban-farmed produce was first featured in Summit supermarkets around Tokyo where the produce was grown, harvested, and sold–all on-site. The latest expansion of this initiative would combine the convenience of commuter shopping with the certified freshness of just-farmed produce.
Infarm's urban-farmed produce utilizes vertical farming techniques, an all-natural growing environment, and optimization practices to create a constantly evolving section of greens. Some of these greens include herbs like Lemon Basil and Mountain Coriander, as well as vegetables like Green Peas and Green Baby Pak Choi. Because of the controlled indoor environment, urban-formed produce reduces water usage by 95% compared to traditional outdoor farms, making it much better for the environment.
