Søren Møller, the founder and creative director of the Danish brand Texstyle, has created an innovative upcycled velvet fabric that can be used to upholster various contemporary furniture silhouettes. The sustainably-focused fabric is made out of upcycled PET bottles. The innovation is officially called Stax Recycled and it is a great option for those looking to have less of a negative impact on the planet.
Texstyle collects discarded plastic waste, cleans it up, and then divides it into small particles. These are taken to a yarn mill and compounded into plastic pellets which are melted and converted into yarn. The upcycled velvet fabric is then offered in a variety of colors to suit different tastes.
