Epic Games Released its Unreal Engine 5 Tool for Developers to Utilize

Epic Games, the American game developer behind 'Fortnite' and the popular 'Unreal Engine' creation tool, has released 'Unreal Engine 5' for public use. The tool allows developers to create 3D assets, video games, films, and Metaverse-ready applications with a high level of realism. A few months ago, Epic Games released 'The Matrix Awakens,' a short playable experience set in a photorealistic world. The rendered assets in this game were near indistinguishable from real life.

Now, developers outside of Epic Games can use this engine for themselves. For the last ten years, developers have been building games and experiences on Unreal Engine 4, so this new iteration marks the next generation of digital creation. Digital development studios will need to obtain a license from Epic Games to use the engine, but this is undoubtedly worth pursuing based on the quality of the Unreal Engine 5 tech demos.
