With the direct integration of digital identities, tokens, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and other technologies into the Unity engine, new possibilities are now available for developers looking to obtain ownership of in-game assets, manage tokens, and explore digital identity solutions.
Metaverse game platforms like The Sandbox and Decentraland, two of the most well-known blockchain-powered experiences available, already use Unity for their ecosystems. These "certified solutions" are freely accessible via the Unity Asset Store, making it easier for even novice developers to gain experience and create simple blockchain-integrated applications.
According to John Riccitiello, CEO of Unity, this move is even more significant for integrating these technologies in previously existing games.
