It was recently reported that the UK is experiencing a shortage of registered sperm donors, with 4,000 women registered to receive and only 307 registered male donors.
Enterprising backpackers looking to subsidize their travel expenses are cashing in on the shortage by donating their "services." Over a third of UK sperm donations come from overseas donors, and a majority are from Australia. One spokesman for the sperm bank quipped, "We could always use more left-handed batsmen in the gene pool."
