This New Company Allows Users to Rent Different Types of Font

A Netherlands-based company called 'Fontstand' allows users to rent different types of font in exchange for a small fee. While the cost of purchasing fonts can be extremely costly for the average consumer, Fontstand makes the process more affordable by doing away with traditional licensing fees.
Fontstand operates as a Mac OS X app, which allows users to browse through thousands of different types of font from 20 global type foundries and independent designers. Users can test drive any of these fonts for free, but only for an hour. After the first hour has passed, the fonts are then available for rent for a period of 30 days. The price of each rental is only 10 percent of the purchase price and it comes free of any location-based restrictions.
The service is ideal for design students and small-scale contractors who might need a particular font for one-time use.
