Crowdsourced Fact-Checking Features

Twitter Launches the Fact-Checking 'Community Notes' Feature

Twitter is adding crowdsourced fact-checks to images posted on the social media website. Dubbed 'Community Notes,' these little blurbs provide insight and context to potentially misleading content on the platform.

'Community Notes' are user-generated, meaning contributors can add information specifically related to an image to provide additional context. When prompted, users can select one of two options that confirm whether the Community Note is about the tweet itself or the image in the post. The company hopes to combat AI-generated fake images and malicious website content, which has become more commonplace as AI becomes popular across all industries.

Although the firm claims it is aiming to expand the feature to videos and posts with multiple images, it is currently only applicable to single photographs.
