As pictures of men with beards becomes an increasingly popular internet phenomenon, this Sikh beard and turban photography is a spirituality-celebrating series. Currently being funded on Kickstarter, the photographic project aims to document contemporary Sikh men in Britain.
Founded by London-based photographers Amit and Naroop, the crowdfunded concept will show how the beard is more than a hipster style statement, but in some cultures a sign of spiritual deference and discipline. The beard-sporting, Kirpan-wielding turban photography shows Sikh men with other modern elements like chambray tops and aviator sunglasses. The symbolism-focusing SINGH Project will be a collection of 35 pictures 'celebrating the identify of British Sikh men' by honoring religion and Western influences at the same time.
