Amcor and Cofigeo Release a Three-Compartment Tray for Ready Meals

Amcor has collaborated with French food manufacturer Cofigeo to develop an innovative three-compartment tray for ready meals. The packaging, which was designed for William Saurin’s Mon Trio Gourmand range, separates meal components — such as proteins, starches, and vegetables. This allows consumers to customize their dining experience while maintaining convenience.

Constructed from lightweight mono-material polypropylene, the innovative three-compartment tray aligns with recycling standards in France as it is compatible with existing waste management systems. Its design addresses multiple technical challenges, including efficient production line integration, extended shelf life, and consumer-friendly features such as microwaveability and direct consumption from the container. Amcor and Cofigeo reported strong consumer approval during pre-launch testing phases, particularly for the flexibility in meal assembly and the tray’s practical design.
