Color-Changing Thermal Jackets

This Jacket's Color Changes Depending on the Temperature Outside

'Stone Island,' a celebrated sportswear brand, designed a thermal jacket that visually responds to variations in temperature. Covered in a see-through nylon material, the apparel shows when heat falls or rises by reacting with the thermo-chromatic coating that's underneath.

When the temperature is higher, the thermal jackets take on a light mint-green tone, however when it's lower, the color changes to an icy gray. While transitioning, the jacket can remain in between the two colors as well, giving it an interesting look that's slightly reminiscent of a tie-dye pattern, however is more subtle.

Large black pockets and other accents contrast against this, giving the thermal jackets a more put-together look so that the color change doesn't cause it to look like its wearer badly bleached it in the wash.
