The ModRetro M64 is a standalone gaming console that plays original Nintendo 64 cartridges using FPGA hardware rather than software emulation. Powered by a 16nm AMD Artix UltraScale+ FPGA, the system recreates the original console's circuitry to preserve gameplay timing and audio accuracy. It supports HDMI output at 720p, 1080p, 1440p, and 4K resolutions, with optional CRT filters, scanline effects, and overclocking modes for compatible games. The console boots in approximately five seconds and supports up to four controllers simultaneously.

Housed in a dual-texture transparent enclosure, the M64 features an integrated LED strip that illuminates cartridge artwork, a dedicated eject button, and Wi-Fi or USB firmware updates for future enhancements. The repairable design uses no adhesives and incorporates gold circuit board traces to improve durability and corrosion resistance. Each package includes the console, a pre-installed 16 GB SD card, a multi-region power adapter, and a power cable, while remaining compatible with original Nintendo 64 controllers and supported third-party alternatives. The system is priced at $229.
