The Artisans Group has designed a zero-carbon passive house in Olympia. The firm looks towards more sustainable and eco-conscientious architecture and construction. As mentioned in The Olympian article, “the Passive House concept originated in Germany and is defined by the lack of traditional heating system… [and are instead] heavily insulated and outfitted with features such as triple-pane windows to reduce energy consumption.”
In less than a week, the house model was pre-manufactured offsite and put together to show a different kind of construction that can be accomplished during this time. Washington state has an environmental goal to help with climate change and carbon emissions that focus on building structures (homes and buildings) that produce zero fossil-fuel greenhouse gas emissions by 2031.
