Text-Based Restaurant Ordering

OneDine Simplifies Server Orders with ROM

OneDine is introducing text-based restaurant ordering through its Restaurant Ordering Mentor (ROM) platform, allowing servers to process customer requests using brief, message-like inputs. Instead of navigating multiple point-of-sale screens or memorizing complicated menus, employees can enter a few letters while the system identifies corresponding items and guides them through the ordering process.

The patent-pending platform works across different point-of-sale systems, helping restaurants manage required selections, dietary accommodations, and suggested pairings. Developed over 20 months, ROM is now available for full-service restaurants. Its guided interface is designed to make order entry easier for both experienced employees and new hires.

For restaurant operators, the technology could reduce training demands and improve service consistency despite frequent staff turnover. OneDine's approach also creates opportunities to increase productivity, support additional sales, and allow servers to spend more time interacting with guests.
