The recent November 2008 issue of Vogue Brazil featured a Tarzan-inspired fashion editorial entitled “Vida Selvagem.â€
The editorial, which was shot by photographer Jacques Dequeker, featured model Gracie Carvalho as a fashionable Jane and and Iuri Jasper as Tarzan.
Predictably, Tarzan did not get to wear much, but Jane flaunted glamorous gowns that looked fantastic in the jungle setting.
Implications - There is something innately romantic about famous fairytale legends like that of Tarzan and for the modern consumer who oftentimes lives in a world that is staggeringly realistic and unremarkable this is especially true. Advertisements that offer glimpses of adventure, romance and excitement offer unique opportunities for every day consumers to enjoy a little escapism. This, without a doubt, is a smart move.
