I'm not sure how to welcome Ryan David Francis's radically different Sony DSLR redesign. Perhaps because its shape, though aesthetically pleasing, must be handled rather than simply gazed upon. Completely deconstructing the iconic shape of SLRs, it makes me wonder whether the design will actually see the light of day.
The goal of Francis's Sony DSLR redesign was to offer a variety of ways to grip Sony's DSLR camera. Considering that how a camera feels in one's hands is just as important as how well it shoots, this is an admirable attempt at designing for the consumer.
