When you think November and fundraising, you probably think of Movember -- but how about Smash Diabetes? November implies Halloween, so it simply makes good sense to "grab a pumpkin to Smash Diabetes".
The campaign uses social media to encourage people to take a pumpkin -- "or any other autumnal object" -- and smash it in a creative fashion, before posting the results on their favorite social media platforms along with the hashtag #smashdiabetes.
Smash Diabetes has proven to be a successful way to raise awareness for a disease that often doesn't get the attention it deserves. Diabetes patients often don't look visibly ill and appear to lead generally complete lives, but this doesn't take away from the grind of having to maintain their health.
