LG Electronics Opens Its New Smart Facility in Brazil

LG Electronics has inaugurated a new smart facility in the state of Paraná, Brazil, which is specifically dedicated to producing refrigerators and represents a significant expansion of the company’s production footprint in Latin America. This new manufacturing factory, which was backed by an investment of roughly $310 million, is designed to churn out about 600,000 units annually, with the capacity to produce one refrigerator every 14 seconds.

LG Electronics tailors its smart facility to the local environment and daily habits. The company’s Brazilian research and development team, comprising around 40 specialists, has thoroughly studied regional needs. This has resulted in refrigerators that accommodate the country's dual-voltage electrical systems, perform reliably in hot and humid weather, and include built-in LED sanitization to inhibit microbial growth, which is a practical response to local food storage challenges.
