French photographer Géraldine Freyeisen photographs skid row fashion for her latest project 'The Swagabonds.'
Though short on resources, the residents and activists of the notorious Los Angeles neighborhood are full of creativity when it comes to curating original outfits. The materials used to fashion these outfits are sourced from thrift shops, donations and local businesses.
Freyeisen feels a strong empathy for and kinship among the residents of Skid Row. In addition to the series, the artist is in the process of creating a fashion company that will support Skid Row designers to create custom pieces. Half of the profits will be used to manufacture the garments, and the only half will go to the designer.
