Single-Avatar Pixel Platformers

Part Time Monkey’s Jono Turns A Platformer Into A Shared Million-R

Part Time Monkey's Jono is a free platformer on Steam that gives every player the same hero, so control passes through a queue instead of separate runs. Each turn lasts 60 seconds, and the next person starts from the spot where the last run ended.

The goal is to finish 1 million rooms, with each cleared room staying done for the whole community. A death only resets the current section, and people not in line can watch, chat, or track top runs on the built-in leaderboard. Released on October 5 as a free-to-play Steam title, Jono has passed 100,000 cleared levels.

A queued, single-character run turns a platformer into co-creation, because progress depends on strangers building on the same attempt instead of playing alone. Free access on Steam also widens the audience for that format, making the wait part of the spectacle for people who would rather watch than play.
