Shipping container micro homes are a way for architects to ensure that housing is affordable and fits the requirements of the utltra-fast-paced urban environment. Recently, Fraser Brown MacKenna Architects was granted permission to begin one such project that will introduce a low-cost housing scheme to spaces in the United Kingdom.
Dubbed 'Gatehouse Road,' the development goes over 26.2 square meters of land. The initative is "part of a series of regeneration plans for underused sites owned by the Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust." Great emphasis has been put on the layout which needs to be practical and functional. Fraser Brown MacKenna Architects was also conscious about introducing greenery to the compact dwellings.
The shipping container micro homes project will be intended for use "as social housing or student accommodation."
