Personal Peltier Effect Coolers

'RARE' Launched a Kickstarter Campaign for its Portable Air Cooler

'RARE' launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for its upcoming semiconductor cooled portable air conditioner. This air conditioner is cools air by using the Peltier effect, or thermoelectric cooling. This is to say that the device uses an electric current to pass heat from one side of the device to another, ensuring that the components that move air remain significantly colder than room temperature.

This portable air conditioner, according to the company's marketing video, shows that it can produce 20-degree celsius air output, even when the input temperature is above 30 degrees celsius. In comparison to traditional portable air conditioners that use a mechanical system to simply move air, this is nearly a ten degree decrease in temperature, as simple coolers just move air at room temperature.
