The Samsung 'Sound and Shot' Feature Wants to be Your Life Companion

An ad for the Samsung 'Sound and Shot' feature was the most shared ad on YouTube in the month of its release. The one-minute video demonstrates the newly unveiled Galaxy S4 feature in a relatable and heart-wrenching way.

The ad starts off quite typically -- at a train station, a mother saying farewell to her son who is about to go on a life-changing backpacking adventure. There's clearly a strong mother-son bond (which already tugs at viewers' heart strings) and on top of that, goodbyes are never happy. As she sends him off, the mother asks her son to send her lots and lots of photos. That's when the Samsung Galaxy S4's new feature, Sound & Shot, comes into play.

Sound & Shot allows nine seconds of audio with a still image -- not a video recording, but a photo with ambient noise to really experience that moment in time.

During his adventure, the son conveniently utilizes this Galaxy S4 feature, keeping his mom back home updated with his journey. The finale shows the now full-bearded son reuniting with his mom at the same train station. The final image of the ad reminds you that the S4 wants to be your life companion.
