Non-Lethal Salt Pistols

The Salt Gun Uses a Blinding Powder to Incapacitate Attackers

— October 29, 2015 — Tech
The Salt gun is a non-lethal weapon that is being designed as an alternative to regular lethal firearms for home and personal protection. The gun, developed by Chicago-based startup Salt, is a pneumatic pistol that is designed to stop threats by using an incapacitating powder that temporarily blinds intruders or attackers.

The weapon is a carbon dioxide-powered air-gin that fires hollow plastic spheres similar to paintballs, except that they don't use paint but use proprietary powder made of oleoresin capsicum as well as other ingredients. The powder is highly irritating and causes an extremely intense and painful burning sensation that is capable of temporarily blinding anyone, while making it difficult for them to breath.

The Salt gun is an ideal alternative to lethal guns because it enables people to protect themselves without taking lives.
