Rising Table by Robert van Embricqs is Organically Intricate

The Rising Table looks like a patch of quicksand. The middle portion sinks inwards dangerously for an edgy aesthetic. Following the similarly named Rising Chair, the Rising Table has the same organic, stick-like look. Also like the Rising Chair, the table is inspired by flat materials.

Dutch designer Robert van Embricqs explains, "I felt it was of paramount importance that the source materials both dictated and guided the ultimate design, while ensuring practical appliance and usability." The incision pattern on the top creates a latticework of woven wooden beams that channels the natural aspects of the materials used, forming the "figuratively beating heart of the Rising Table." It is beautifully intricate and surprisingly simple.
