The Red Recession Dress is designed to compete with Asda’s collections. The vintage-inspired dress is red, a color chosen to symbolize power and courage in a bid to elevate moods as recession beckons.

In addition, the dress is complete with full lining, ruched cap sleeves and with an asymmetrical neckline.

"This dress is the only garment a woman needs to buy this year. It is an excellent value for money," a spokesperson for the store said.

"We’re confident that the launch of the Red Recession Dress will revive and uplift women and their wardrobes across the country.”
