Quebec-based photographer Red Methot captured stunning before and after images of premature baby births. The images show young toddlers clutching images of themselves when they were born.
Each baby photograph is black and white to emphasize the transitional period that elapsed. The toddlers holding the pictures are grinning and have a sense of accomplishment about them. Although the children holding their own photographs appear to understand what they went through, their youthful age presents a remarkable achievement.
This 'Les Premas' photography series by Red Methot is a thoughtful collection that honors the powerful accomplishments and tough challenges that each child was forced to face at a delicate and young age. In addition to the young toddlers, there are a few images that feature adults who are also holding an image of themselves born prematurely. This adds variety to the series and allows the young children to see how far they can go after overcoming the difficulties of a premature birth.
