The Rave Guardian App Lets Users Communicate With Police With Ease

Officials at UC Davis have released a public safety app, dubbed Rave Guardian, that will allow students to alert police in cases of emergencies, and will make it easy for them to report suspicious activity through text messages.

The app, created by Massachusetts-based Rave Mobile Safety, will allow students, faculty and staff to create a status that indicates that they are walking alone or to a specific location. If the user reaches their destination safely, they can disable the timer. If something untoward happens however, campus police dispatchers will be immediately notified and will attempt to contact the user before dispatching police to the location.

Given the large size of university campuses and the ease of committing crimes there, particularly at night, it is hoped that the Rave Guardian app will provide an extra layer of security and peace of mind.
