'Proton Drive' Launched a Photo Backup Service for Android

Proton, the company most known for its end-to-end encrypted email service, recently announced a new service to add to its 'Proton Drive' data backup tool. Proton Drive functions similarly to Google Drive, offering encrypted network storage accessible from a multitude of smart devices, including smartphones, computers, and tablets.
Proton announced a new feature coming to Proton Drive titled 'Photo Backup.' While the name implies the purpose of the tool, its function is a little more deep. The tool can be automatically configured to backup photos on a device to a private, secure server. Which photo folders to automatically back up can be customized similarly to Google Drive. Additionally, the option to geotag photos with the location they were taken from is optional on Proton Drive. Lastly, the encryption for the transfer of the photos from the smart device to the server is completely secure, with even the metadata of each photo being encrypted to make the resulting image indecipherable by malicious actors.
