High-Efficiency Enterprise PSUs

Seasonic Introduced Its PRIME ENTERPRISE RX-1600

Seasonic introduced the PRIME ENTERPRISE RX-1600, a 1,600W ATX power supply featuring the new 80 PLUS Ruby certification at 115V. The standard adds stricter low-load efficiency requirements, including testing at 5% and 10% loads alongside traditional operating points.

Ruby requires efficiency ranging from 85% at 5% load to 95% at 50% load, along with a minimum 0.95 power factor at 20% load. Seasonic said meeting the certification required changes to switching control, component selection, thermal design and validation. The RX-1600 is positioned for high-end desktops, professional workstations and AI-focused systems with demanding power requirements.

For users running high-capacity systems for long periods, improved efficiency can reduce wasted energy, heat output and cooling demands. Seasonic has not yet announced pricing or broad retail availability.
