ROMTech is expanding connected home rehabilitation with PortableConnect, a system designed to bring clinician-directed knee-replacement recovery into patients’ homes. The platform combines guided therapy with remote monitoring, real-time recovery data and AI-driven insights, allowing clinicians to remain connected to patients outside traditional rehabilitation facilities. More than 200,000 patients have used PortableConnect nationwide, including patients from 63 VA hospitals. The home-based format can be particularly useful for rural Veterans who would otherwise need to travel significant distances for repeated rehabilitation sessions.
For ROMTech, targeting geographically dispersed patients positions PortableConnect as a scalable extension of existing rehabilitation services rather than a replacement for clinical oversight. Remote monitoring can also support continuity between VA facilities and Community Care providers. Broader adoption could help healthcare organizations expand rehabilitation capacity, reduce dependence on physical locations and maintain greater visibility into patients’ recovery between appointments.
