You have to be a pretty big gamer to recognize the inspiration for these Pitfall mugs. For those who don't have experience with 8-bit gaming, Pitfall! was originally released in 1982 for the Atari 2600. The game lets you play as an adventurer who is constantly swinging over obstacles, such as snakes, crocodiles and open pits (of course).
The Pitfall mugs were crafted by Etsy merchant James Bit. Bit chose to go with the iconic 8-bit crocodiles from the game. This was a good choice as anything else would not have been as recognizable or minimalist. The minimalist aspect of the Pitfall mugs are their best feature. One could easily throw these in the cupboard without having to worry about people calling out their geekiness. Bit is selling the Pitfall mugs in packs of three for $23.
