Trader Joe’s Pesto Rosso is a delicious take on pesto and delivers the taste of Genoa straight to consumers. The pasta sauce is made by an Italian supplier that starts with a base of tomatoes, then added sunflower oil, Parmesan cheese, garlic, and just a hint of basil. And while pine nuts are usually added to a typical Genoese pesto, Trader Joe's version if made with cashews. To finish it all off, the whole thing is blended with carrot purée, which adds a touch of sweetness and kicks the red hue of the sauce up a notch.
