A new Open Manufacturing Platform has been unveiled as an initiative being developed by BMW Group and Microsoft to help aid the shift towards Internet of Things (IoT) industrial needs. The open design of the platform enables partners and community members alike to aid in the development of new services and solutions, while also putting a focus on intellectual property control. As factories continue to change and adapt to present and future infrastructure needs, the new platform will enable more control over machine learning technologies, analytics and beyond.
Executive Vice President at Microsoft Cloud and AI Group Scott Guthrie spoke about the new Open Manufacturing Platform saying, "Microsoft is joining forces with the BMW Group to transform digital production efficiency across the industry. Our commitment to building an open community will create new opportunities for collaboration across the entire manufacturing value chain."
