Novo Nordisk has launched a new late-stage clinical trial to further evaluate CagriSema, its next-generation investigational treatment for obesity. The move comes as the company works to strengthen confidence in the drug’s potential following underwhelming results from two earlier studies.
Originally touted as a more powerful follow-up to the company’s blockbuster Wegovy, CagriSema had raised expectations for surpassing the weight-loss efficacy of Eli Lilly’s competing treatment, Mounjaro. This latest trial aims to build on existing data and reaffirm CagriSema’s role in Novo Nordisk’s growing pipeline of obesity therapies.
"This study will look at how well CagriSema helps people living with obesity to lose weight and maintain the weight loss long-term," Novo Nordisk was quote in an entry published on the Clinical Trials website.
The new trial will begin in June.
