The self-portraits of 22-year-old photographer Noell S. Oszvald are hauntingly beautiful.
The monochromatic images with captions such as 'Destiny,' 'Prisoner of my Soul' and 'Reachless' instantly captivate and induce a powerful wave of melancholy emotion. The photographer decided to capture these stunning photos in black and white because she found color to be too distracting. Though she conceptualized and deeply thought out her portraits, she also believed that everyone should be free to create their own interpretation of her images. As she articulates, "this is the reason why I never really write any descriptions other than titles. It shows what I wish to express but everyone is free to figure out what the picture says to them.
Noell S. Oszvald may leave interpretation to the imagination, but her haunting portraits maintain a beautiful aesthetic that makes you want to stare at them for hours.
