Infusing the classical world with some magical surrealism, this collection of photographs by Nikolaj Lund re-envisions the typical representation of orchestral and classical music artists. The photographs involve musicians and their instruments engaged in a variety of visually compelling (albeit physically impossible) activities.
Through a combination of pristine photographaphy and brilliant photo editing, Nikolaj Lund is able to transform the somewhat conservative image of classical music players into something more imaginative and playful.
Sitting on invisible benches, floating over top water and throwing one's stand-up base from a sand dune are just a few of the compelling visuals created by the artist. Just because orchestral composers and music players don't populate the front cover of Rolling Stones or make it into headlines due to scandalous behavior, shouldn't entail that they don't have any spark.
