The NFB Pixstop App for iPad 2 Lets You Create Stop-Motion Films

NFB PixStop for iPad 2 is a stop-motion animation application that lets users create films of 13 minutes in length at most and using up to 10,000 images.

NFB PixStop is a product of the National Film Board of Canada, and is free in Canada and $2.99 anywhere else in the world via iTunes. Previously, its web developers have created similar mobile apps for iPhone, iPad, Android and BlackBerry Playbook.

The app is kid-friendly, as it was originally designed to be integrated into classrooms as part of their education initiatives, which means it's quite user-friendly and easy to grasp as well. The NFB PixStop app also facilitates the addition of music from an iTunes library and has a particularly interesting feature that makes it easy to adjust the speed of the film.
