Most kitchen appliances either work or they don't and the average person doesn't think twice about investing their own time, money and energy into repairs, but Kara is a modular espresso machine that helps to make repairs easy, even for those who aren't technically savvy. This standout espresso machine is one that can be made with 3D printing, plus it's recyclable and user-friendly enough to fix its individual components as needed.
Appliance designer Thomas Mair, states on his website, "How we treat electronics is fundamentally broken. When an appliance breaks, instead of fixing it we replace it. When we do, it’s estimated that only one-fifth of electric goods actually get recycled. This is not, and cannot be sustainable."
Kara is still in the prototype phase and the design was recently exhibited at Dutch Design Week.
