The 'SRV-8 MDV (Mine Disposal Vehicle)' is an underwater robot that represents the latest and greatest iteration of the 'SRV-8,' an underwater remotely-operated vehicle. What makes the new 'SRV-8 MDV' different is the fact that it happens to incorporate the 'Viper MDS' technology created by ECS Special Projects, an expert in marine equipment.
This underwater drone works by using sonar and HD photography to detect mines, before making use of precisely delivered aluminum powder to initiate the explosion.
With the ability to move in 360 degrees and access depths in the region of 1,000 feet, this underwater robot could prove massively useful in taking out harmful sea mines.
