Split-Toe Sock-Like Shoes

ILYSM Introduces the Metal Tabi Inspired by 15th Century Japanese Socks

Sustainability-centric footwear brand ILYSM introduces the new Metal Tabi shoes for the season. The New York City-based brand draws inspiration from 15th century Japan, specifically from the traditional Japanese socks. It designs the new footwear with a contemporary touch, offering an all-black colorway.

It is lined with Tencel throughout the upper that is made using renewable wood pump. The insole is made from renewable cork, which sits on top of two layers of recycled foam materials to offer comfort around the foot. The sustainable consciousness continues as the shoes are entirely machine washable. The brand emphasizes sustainable manufacturing through the process and continues to push the lesson of conscious consumerism, proving that it is possible to create with minimal worldly impacts.
