Microsoft has unveiled a new feature for its premiere workplace video-chat application, Teams, titled 'Mesh for Teams.' Mesh for Teams will enable the real-time virtual collaboration of users across a variety of devices in a metaverse environment. Users will be able to use the Mesh feature on any device that has Teams, including laptops, computers, mobile devices, or AR/VR headsets.
Mesh for Teams requires meeting participants to make a virtual avatar to represent themselves in the metaverse. Following this, participants will be able to interact with each other, work collaboratively on holographically-displayed projects, and immerse themselves in a virtual world. Microsoft is referring to this world as 'The Nth Floor,' with N being a variable, and the name outlining the near-infinite possibilities of virtual immersion within the Mesh for Teams metaverse application.
