McDonald’s x XBOX have partnered to bring in-game food to life through 'Side Missions,' a gaming-inspired QSR experience launching across McDonald’s UK and Ireland. Marking the companies’ first collaboration, the initiative draws from six gaming franchises: Halo™: Campaign Evolved, Fallout™ 76, Forza Horizon™ 6, Overwatch™, World of Warcraft™ and Candy Crush™.
First introduced in 2025, Side Missions frames McDonald’s visits as playful detours. For this iteration, recognizable foods, flavors and details from participating game worlds will inform limited-time menu items. Additionally, the restaurant experience will incorporate Easter eggs, hidden messages and other interactive references designed around the featured franchises.
Meanwhile, the collaboration extends into the McDonald’s App, where Rewards points can unlock exclusive in-game content. These incentives include a Forza Horizon 6™ car voucher, a Fallout™ 76 Sugar Bomb Bundle and the returning Red Hot Portable Bakery for World of Warcraft™. Ultimately, the partnership connects physical dining with digital gaming experiences.
