It's hard to imagine a typical street balloon artist creating these particular sculptures as efficiently as they do for small children; yet clearly Masayoshi Matsumoto takes much more care when it comes to his chosen art form. Elevating balloon animals to a sophisticated level worthy of being displayed in art galleries, Masayoshi Matsumoto's sculptures are full of intricate detail adults will appreciate.
Hailing from Japan, Masayoshi Matsumoto has created everything from prickly iguanas to glowing sea creatures, prompting the Contemporist to note how "it seems no life form is too difficult for Matsumoto to faithfully interpret using nothing but balloons." it will be interesting to see what comes of these balloon sculptures and what movements they might spur on. Perhaps its the new origami?
