This magnified mirror is particularly eccentric. Usually, when you see a modernized decorative reflector, it is a vibrant paint job that renders it contemporary. In this case, the designer built in a playful optical illusion that appears to enlarge one corner of the piece.
This Yoy Design Studio creation called Lens has an elaborate antique-looking frame that's made from ABS material. The width and details are consistent along two sides, but the top right section is surrounded in a fine round frame that singles out the faux magnified area. One would assume that the reflective surface within this field might maximize the image of the onlooker, but it actually doesn't; the vision remains consistent across the circular border.
This magnified mirror exemplifies a whimsicality that has become prevalent in contemporary furniture design.
